The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD)
The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) was established in the United Kingdom in 1997 as an independent, not-for-profit, research training, advocacy and capacity building organisation. The purpose was to mobilise global opinion and resources for democratic development and provide an independent space to reflect critically on the challenges posed to the democratisation and development processes in West Africa.
CDD works to counter extremist narratives from a Salafist perspective, engages young people with critical thinking skills on preventing/countering violent extremism, strategy development on countering violent extremism, and popularization of regional and sub-regional counter terrorism strategies.
Gas Alert for Sustainable Initiative (GASIN)
GASIN is a non-profit, non-political and a non-governmental organization focused on environmental safety, peace building and secure livelihoods of the people of Niger Delta. GASIN through its governance arm has trained youths residing in some conflict-prone communities on Early Warning and Early Response, and conflict resolution. Consequently, a platform called Forum for Early Warning and Early Response (FEWER) was set up in more than 18 communities in Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers states. FEWER works with violent youths in their communities to involve them and thus inculcate in them a sense of responsibility. Extreme violent issues are often reported at the budding stages and hence addressed and the relative peace in target communities is remarkable.
Neem Foundation specializes in psychological/psycho-social support, as well as extensive training and experience in countering and preventing violent extremism, community engagement, strategic communication and project cycle management.
The foundation works in partnership with UNICEF to provide rehabilitation to child soldiers and former fighters.
Peace Building Development Foundation (PBDF)
